Cooley is seeking a Lateral Recruiting & Integration Manager to join the Legal Talent team. Working closely with practice group leadership and the broader Legal Talent team, the Lateral Recruiting & Integration Manager is primarily responsible for all aspects of firmwide lateral Associate and Special Counsel recruitment. The manager will utilize various resources to help identify candidates for current and future lateral hiring needs, while keeping our core values and commitment to building diverse and inclusive teams top of mind.


Position responsibilities: 

  • Communicate with practice group leadership across the firm to get a clear view of hiring needs and organizational goals
  • Develop a thorough understanding of the position requirements, draft job descriptions and help identify talent that aligns with the needs of the relevant practice group
  • Cultivate a strong understanding of various legal markets and build relationships with key recruiters in those markets to ensure they understand the firm’s hiring needs and can properly convey firm culture
  • Partner with internal Marketing and Communications teams to develop new and innovative strategies to market the firm and specific practice groups to candidates
  • Collaborate with Legal Talent team members to create a seamless and efficient approach to recruiting, onboarding and integration across offices
  • Manage the full recruitment cycle for lateral candidates, from sourcing and interview scheduling, to offer extension and coordination of tailored closing efforts
  • Create integration plans for lateral hires, taking into consideration the needs of specific groups and building in flexibility and accountability
  • Provide regular updates on active searches and pipeline metrics, target lists, recruiting activity, search strategy and talent assessment
  • Coordinate with practice groups when the need for alternative sources of legal talent arises (e.g., contract and staff attorneys)
  • Collaborate with broader Legal Talent team on various tasks/projects, as needed


Skills and experience:


  • 5+ years’ recruiting experience in the legal industry
  • Experience with applicant tracking systems, preferably LawCruit
  • Familiarity with state and federal hiring laws


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Prior employment within the legal search firm industry
  • Experience conducting market research and sourcing candidates
  • Experience with recruiting data analytics
    Experience recruiting from multiple and modern sources
  • Familiarity with basic visa/immigration requirements
  • Personnel management experience

Pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay For Equal Work Act, please find the compensation range specific to this role if based in CO, as well as a description of bonus and benefits generally applicable across all US offices.

  • Colorado pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on skillset and experience  - $100,000 - $120,000 annually.
  • Other compensation may include an annual discretionary merit bonus.
