The New York office of Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton is in search of a Recruiting Coordinator. The candidate will coordinate and assist in the execution of all legal recruiting efforts at the firm.


  • Support the on-campus interview process by securing interview dates, pre-screen resumes, hospitality suite organization, interviewer material preparation, applicant tracking and reception and dinner execution
  • Handle all communication and correspondence necessary in the recruiting and follow-up process with applicants and attorneys
  • Input all appropriate applicant information into the Firm's recruiting database and utilize reporting functionality to analyze data
  • Assist in coordinating callback interviews, including monitoring correspondence, ensuring that travel and hotel arrangements are made for the students and scheduling interviews
  • Organize and administer the summer associate program in the New York Office. Coordinate and assist in the execution of summer associate on boarding, orientation, event logistics, training and development programs, summer associate work allocation and evaluation process
  • Participate in exit procedures for summer associates including conducting exit interviews and preparing reports with recommendations
  • Assist with on-campus outreach to student organizations, including tracking, planning and attending events for first year law students
  • Assist in developing and updating marketing materials for attorney recruiting (including Firm website, recruiting brochure, Vault and Chambers profiles, etc.). Periodically review and revise recruiting correspondence
  • Coordinate and execute all recruiting processes for the 1L Diversity Summer Associate Program
  • Receive, pre-screen and process all inquiries regarding hiring of international lawyers, summer associates and 1L applicants
  • Conduct preliminary info sessions regarding the firm with summer and fall associate candidates
  • Conduct candidate surveys to gather data on interview process and prepare analysis on trends
  • Ensure the Firm's adherence to the guidelines of the National Association for Law Placement (NALP)
  • Assist Lead Recruiter with the LL.M recruiting efforts for our International Lawyer Program by organizing and preparing for meetings, solicit and track candidate applications, schedule interviews, collect evaluations, maintain status reports on candidates and prepare offer correspondence


  • Bachelor’s Degree Required
  • Minimum of two years in legal recruiting or related experience required; experience working in a fast-paced law firm or professional services environment preferred
  • Flexibility in working outside business hours to meet operating needs particularly during the summer and fall seasons
  • Experience using viRecruit or similar applicant tracking system preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a strong team-player
  • Superior organizational skills and strong attention to detail
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks with competing tight deadlines
  • A high energy level and have a professional demeanor
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
