The Associate Recruitment Manager is responsible for management of the Boston, New York, and Philadelphia offices’ law school On-Campus recruitment processes and outreach, summer associate programs, as well as entry-level and experienced lawyer recruitment. This team member will provide management and oversight to a recruiting coordinator in the region. The Associate Recruitment Manager reports to the Director of Associate Recruitment and works closely with the offices’ Recruiting and Summer Associate Committees. This team member works with the Director and other managers to help set recruiting strategy and develop and deploy initiatives in the region and across the U.S. The position will be resident in the New York office.

Responsibilities:

Law Student Recruitment

  • Manage law school outreach including sponsorships, mock interviews and student programming.
  • Manage On-Campus Interview (OCI) registration, including resume selection process for schools as appropriate, preparation of materials for OCI, staffing of hospitality suites and interview schedules.
  • Oversee candidate travel and review/approve travel expenses.
  • Manage the callback invitation process, scheduling interviews with candidates as well as overseeing the scheduling of in-office interview meetings.
  • Supervise the preparation of Recruitment Committee (RC) meeting statistics and reports; attend RC meetings, manage post-meeting action items, ensure preparation of candidate correspondence. 
  • Manage and oversee post-offer follow up activity including scheduling second office visits and tracking of candidates through final hiring result.
  • Manage preparation of post-offer candidate communications including electronic surveys.
  • Manage completion of post-OCI feedback via Symplicity or NALP form as requested by law schools and/or the Director of Associate Recruitment.
  • Supervise 1L resume collect and OCI process as appropriate.
  • Plan, implement and drive efforts to increase and improve firm visibility and firm brand at targeted schools.
  • Support law student diversity hiring and initiatives.
  • Work with Recruitment Committee co-chairs to establish and meet recruiting targets and initiatives

 Summer Associate Program

  • Serve as a key contact and point of information for summer associates and others involved with the summer program.
  • Participate in the planning and management of summer associate on-boarding and orientation including development of pre-arrival marketing information and outreach, as serve as a resource for other US offices, as they plan for their local office programs.
  • Oversee the region’s summer associate programs, including mentor assignments, training, work assignment and social activities.
  • Manage evaluation processes including oversight of evaluation files and scheduling for mid-summer and exit interviews.
  • Oversee planning and execution of summer associate social events.
  • Manage the creation and dissemination of post-summer survey and analyze results.
  • Serve as a resource and management support for recruiting team personnel for execution of the summer program.

 Lateral Recruitment

  • Work with practice area leaders to identify and analyze lateral hiring needs.
  • Screen candidate resumes and work with firm attorneys to identify candidates to be interviewed; oversee the timely preparation and distribution of candidate and search firm correspondence.
  • Support lateral attorney diversity hiring initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with legal search firms.
  • Ensure the timely and accurate entry of candidate data into applicant tracking systems.
  • Serve as a resource and management support for recruiting team personnel in Philadelphia for experienced lawyer recruitment.

 Associate/Attorney On-Boarding

  • Oversee the candidate conflicts, reference and background checks and bar verification process.
  • Oversee arrival information in firm applicant tracking and firm intake/HR systems.
  • Manage orientation for incoming associates in the Northeast offices.
  • Serve as a resource and management support for recruiting team personnel in the Philadelphia office for onboarding of legal hires.

 Other Responsibilities

  • Manage the preparation and maintenance of recruitment files for summer associate, associate, attorney, patent agent and specialist hires in accordance with firm policies and procedures.
  • Administer and maintain Hogan Lovells US LLP associate recruiting policies, operational procedures and practices consistent with the firm goals and objectives.
  • Act as a liaison and contact for US office recruitment.
  • Assist the International Assignments and Secondments Manager with onboarding and integration of international lawyers and trainees.
  • Supervise, manage and mentor recruiting staff, including providing training, coaching and performance feedback, along with other associate recruitment managers.
  • Assist Director of Associate Recruitment with new initiatives and projects, and developing strategy for recruiting along with other associate recruitment managers.
  • Assist Director of Associate Recruitment with preparation of annual budget related to summer associate, law student, and lateral attorney recruitment and attorney on-boarding initiatives.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with internal and external constituencies including HLUS lawyers and administrative departments, law school career services professionals, search firms, and others.
  • Keep abreast of current recruiting practices and maintain membership with New York City Recruitment Association (NYCRA), National Association for Law Placement (NALP), and other associations as necessary.
  • All members of the firm are expected to participate in our Responsible Business program.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Associate Recruitment.

Qualifications:

  • Five plus years of experience in law firm attorney recruitment required with at least three years of experience in staff/team management
  • Ability to build consensus, exercise discretion, and maintain confidential information, as well as exercise good judgment and flexibility.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage, organize and implement detailed and complex projects.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to deal effectively with all levels of HL personnel/lawyers.
  • Ability to work independently and maintain composure under pressure.
  • Strong supervisory skills.
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent work-related experience.

Additional Information:

HOURS & OTHER INFORMATION Core Hours are Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5:30pm. Must be flexible to travel and work additional hours.
