The Talent Development Department of Arnold & Porter has an opening for a Talent Development Coordinator located in the New York Office. The Coordinator handles a variety of responsibilities for the Attorney Recruiting team. The Coordinator supports the recruitment of associates, staff attorneys and summer associates including new and lateral attorney orientation and integration, assists with planning the summer program, as well as ad hoc projects.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Summer Program

Assisting the Attorney Recruiting Manager in planning the summer associate program; including but not limited to, planning events, coordinating summer associate arrival dates, sending pre-arrival communications; scheduling orientation programs, and assisting with the assignment and evaluation collection, as needed.
Facilitating the end-of-summer exit process.
Partnering with career services personnel and faculty to raise the Firm’s profile on campus; organizing, tracking and conducting follow up for career development meetings; interacting with the network of former A&P summer associates.

“Fall” Recruiting

Working with the attorney recruiting team, office recruiting committees and hiring partners to develop and implement an overall recruiting strategy and program to best present A&P candidates on campus.
Supporting the lateral associate interview process including identifying/presenting candidates and scheduling interviews.
Providing support for the callback interview process; scheduling, greeting and maintaining communication with candidates.
Coordinating the on-campus interview process, including but not limited to, registration, scheduling, preparing interview materials, researching candidate histories and submitting feedback forms to interviewing schools.
Helping to plan callback events; selling dinners/receptions, post-offer visits.
Coordinating weekly decision meetings during the callback process.
Coordinating campus outreach events, including on-campus events designed to market the Firm.
Preparing expense forms and check requests as needed.

Lateral, Entry-Level, Staff Attorney & Judicial Clerk Hiring

Assisting the attorney recruiting team to hire and integrate judicial clerks, entry-level, staff attorneys, and lateral associates.
Processing and managing pre-employment requirements (references, conflict checks, offer letters, etc.).
Coordinating paperwork for new associate and staff attorney hires (arrival notices, orientation schedules, orientation packets, personnel files, personnel authorization forms).
Assisting/coordinating the onboarding and integration processes.
Acting as a liaison for new employees with other Firm departments.
Assisting with updating the careers section on our website as well as the Firm’s Vault profile.



Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent experience will be considered.
Minimum of two years of administrative experience in a law Firm, professional services or corporate environment.
Exceptional judgment, flexibility and professionalism, and the ability to lead effectively while being a team player.
Excellent interpersonal skills and client service, both internal and external and problem solving skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while exhibiting a strong attention to detail.
Ability to provide a strong first impression of the Firm.
Must be creative, flexible, adaptable to change and results-oriented.
Ability to prioritize and manage time effectively and handle a variety of tasks/projects simultaneously.
Excellent organization and communications skills, both oral and written.
Ability to maintain confidentiality of information is essential.
Must work well with all levels of Firm personnel, establish effective working relationships throughout the Firm and react to challenging situations appropriately.
Proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
Knowledge of viDesktop platform a plus.
Flexibility to work additional hours, as necessary.
