Overview:
Arnold & Porter has a Manager of Diversity & Inclusion opening in the New York office or Washington, DC office. The Manager of Diversity & Inclusion has a firmwide presence, reports to the Director of Diversity & Inclusion, and manages and leads implementation of numerous key diversity and inclusion initiatives and objectives for the firm. The Manager serves as a liaison and subject matter expert to departments including, but not limited to, Human Resources, Legal Talent Management, Innovation and Practice Management, Marketing & Business Development, and Well-Being, collaborating closely with them to produce inclusive talent and organizational development initiatives. The Manager supervises both the D&I Assistant and D&I Specialist, providing administrative oversight and professional development guidance to ensure the effective execution of their responsibilities in support of firmwide inclusion strategies.
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Developing and implementing strategic retention and advancement initiatives promoting inclusive access to development and career growth opportunities for all personnel.
Supervising, mentoring, coaching, and developing the D&I Assistant and D&I Specialist, with administrative responsibility for ensuring the effective execution of their respective responsibilities in support of the full D&I function and firm strategies.
Supervising, managing, and collaborating on the design and execution of diverse and rigorous learning programs to foster inclusion.
Collaborating with Legal Talent and HR to integrate inclusion principles into onboarding, evaluations, promotions, and career development systems.
Working with the Director to liaise with Practice Innovation and Management and other administrative departments to develop customized inclusion action plans.
Overseeing inclusive branding and communications in collaboration with the Marketing and Business Development team; elevating internal and external storytelling.
Leading and collaborating on efforts to position the firm as a recognized D&I thought and innovation leader through award submissions, industry submissions, and collaborative partnerships.
Collaborating with the Director and D&I Data Analyst to build and maintain dashboards and reporting systems.
Contributing to and leading client-facing initiatives, including RFPs and co-branded inclusion efforts.
Staying informed on leading practices in workplace inclusion, talent development, behavioral science, and industry-specific trends to serve as an internal diversity and inclusion subject matter expert.
Promoting the organizational values of diversity and inclusion and demonstrating the interpersonal fluency to influence across all levels of the firm.
Qualifications:
Qualifications:
A bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree or JD preferred.
A minimum of three (3) years managerial experience with a minimum of three (3) years of experience in a diversity and inclusion role within a law firm, professional services, or corporate environment.
Proven experience developing and implementing innovative D&I programs and events that support measurable cultural and talent development outcomes.
High proficiency in Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite and/or related software.
High proficiency with data analysis deliverables, methods, and tools; survey platforms, project management, and collaborative work platforms (e.g., Power BI, Smartsheet, Culture Amp, Qualtrics) preferred. Proficiency in VI Desktop preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the diversity and inclusion industry.
Deep understanding of inclusion-centered organizational change and talent development.
Strong facilitation, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
Highly developed project management skills.
Ability to lead effectively while being a collaborative contributor who values diverse perspectives.
Ability to make sound decisions and demonstrate a high degree of trustworthiness in handling confidential and sensitive information with discretion
Ability to strategically maintain financial/budgetary information.
Strategic thinking with the ability and motivation to translate vision into actionable plans.
Ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the firm.

Additional Information:
The anticipated base salary for this position is $120,000 to $175,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held and, if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
