Department Purpose:
The HR team at A&O Shearman provides a first class service to the business, offering strategic HR business advice at the business partner level and quality support services in the full range of HR functions through specialist teams such as, learning & development, resourcing, reward, employee relations advice, diversity and inclusion, payroll, systems and HR administration.

Role Purpose:
The Attorney Recruitment Coordinator works with all non-partner lateral attorney recruiting for the firm. Under the supervision of the Attorney Recruitment Senior Manager and Manager, the Coordinator will be tasked with developing and executing key initiatives in support of the Firm's strategic goals with respect to hiring, onboarding and integrating lateral attorneys across the U.S. offices.

  • U.S. Associates/Counsel and Partners

Responsibilities:

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and facilitate interview process for the lateral associate and counsel recruitment: Create and communicate interview meeting invites, schedules, and internal confirmation emails; handle meeting logistics; organize, track, and disseminate information for candidates and interviewers; and collect and track feedback in a timely manner.
  • Assist with the lateral hiring process including reviewing candidate resumes, assessing evaluations, drafting offer letters, etc.
  • Collaborate with HR, Professional Development and other stakeholders to develop and manage orientation and the onboarding program for lateral hires.
  • Communicate with and provide updates to search firms and candidates.
  • Responsible for maintaining and updating the Applicant Tracking System, daily, along with other various department reports.
  • Other projects and responsibilities as assigned.

Team:
This individual will report directly to the Lateral Recruitment Senior Manager and will work closely with other members of the U.S. HR team.

Qualifications:

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Minimum of 2 years of legal recruiting/talent management experience in a law firm or other professional services setting required.
  • Sophisticated strategic and analytical thinking, drive, initiative, and problem-solving skills required.
  • Proven organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability prioritize and multi-task effectively.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
    Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact effectively with personnel at all levels.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to accommodate a flexible work schedule that will occasionally require travel and extended hours.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and to recognize and treat confidential information in a professional manner.
  • Direct sourcing of candidate experience a plus.

Additional Information:

This role is open to our Washington D.C. or our New York office. For individuals assigned to or hired for this opportunity in New York, the estimated annualized base salary range for this position is $73,000-$89,000. The actual base salary offered will depend on the overall qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, including, if applicable, the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job, and other job-relation factors permitted by law.
