It’s a mistake to think that people resist change. How can that be if the only constant is, that things will change? The reality is that people don’t necessarily resist change; it’s just that they aren’t given sufficient reason as to why the change is happening. More importantly, they likely don’t know the who, the what, the where, and the how of going forward. Like musical chairs, business is often about the music suddenly stopping and employees hoarding work to keep their job and metaphorically, a place to sit. What does it take to effectively manage the change? What should a leader know about getting their people through a change intact and with as little disruption as possible? These questions and others are addressed in Emotional Intelligence and its Relevance to Managing Change.
