Overview:

The Legal Recruiting Manager is responsible for managing the recruitment and selection of associates and non-attorney technical professionals in all practice areas across all offices.  This position reports to the Senior Legal Recruiting Manager, and works closely with Section Managers.

Responsibilities:

Oversee all aspects of entry-level and lateral associate hiring Firm-wide.

Manage the entry-level associate recruiting process including OCI planning and implementation, overseeing the summer associate program, building relationships with law schools and diversity organizations to build the Mintz brand.

Manage hiring for experienced lateral attorneys in both associate and off partnership-track positions, as well as non-attorney technical positions such as patent agents and technology specialists.

Creatively source candidates using a variety of methods, including search firms, internal referrals and leads, on-line research of targets and prospects.

Communicate with search firms about strategic hiring needs and about candidates in the pipeline. Establish and cultivate relationships with search firms in all geographies.

Oversee interview scheduling, prepare interviewer and interviewee information packages, and collect post-interview feedback.

Responsible for seeing background checks, reference checks and other due diligence through to completion.

Maintain candidate files and track status using appropriate recruiting databases and reports.

Draft candidate correspondence, response letters, engagement letters, welcome notices, firm announcements, fee agreements, PowerPoint presentations and other communications.

Work proactively with Section Managers, Office Managing Members, Hiring Committee to develop a thorough understanding of hiring opportunities and needs.

Work with Senior Legal Recruiting Manager and Director of Recruiting to develop recruiting strategies, policies and procedures, and departmental goals.

Serve as “face of the firm” in representing it through consistently positive, professional interactions with both internal and external clients including staff, attorneys of the firm, firm leadership, candidates, search firms, professional organizations and other entities.

Mentor and train Legal Recruiting Specialists and Legal Recruiting Coordinators and help to manage their performance to our strategic goals.

Work collaboratively with Legal Recruiting Department staff to support other functional areas (e.g., lateral member recruiting), special projects and general department administration.

Monitor legal news sources to keep abreast of trends in the market and update others as needed.

Engage in local and national legal recruiting organizations to support the enhancement of our profession and to represent Mintz positively in the legal community.

Qualifications:

5+ years legal recruiting management experience required; lateral associate recruiting experience required.

Prior experience managing staff is required.

Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to influence others.

Ability to function in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment, prioritize multiple projects on a daily basis, and adjust to shifting priorities.

Strong planning, project management and organizational skills.

Strong sense of urgency and a high-energy level.

Facility analyzing, working with and presenting data.

Ability to collaborate and gain the respect, trust, and confidence of the Firm’s attorneys and professional staff.

Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint.  Ability to quickly get up to speed and master new applications and software is critical.

Travel to other offices required.
