The Legal Recruiting Specialist will work under the supervision of the Legal Recruiting Manager to support firm-wide lateral associate, off partnership-track attorney and non-attorney technical recruiting. The position is part of the firm’s Legal Recruiting Department and therefore will also be involved in firm-wide legal recruiting activities and initiatives to support attorneys throughout the firm.

Work alongside fellow Legal Recruiting Specialists/Coordinators to oversee and implement all stages of the recruiting process from the time a hiring need is identified to successful hire, focusing on experienced lateral attorneys in both associate and off partnership-track positions, as well as non-attorney technical positions such as patent agents and technical advisors.

Creatively source candidates using a variety of methods including search firms, internal referrals and leads, on-line research of targets and prospects.

Establish and cultivate relationships with search firms in all geographies. Communicate frequently with search firms about strategic hiring needs and follow up in a timely manner about candidates under consideration.

Screen resumes and introductory materials. Obtain additional information, as needed and present candidate introductions to section, office and recruiting committee.

Schedule interviews, coordinate candidate travel, prepare interviewer and interviewee information packages, collect post-interview feedback.

Proactively drive the recruiting process to completion by gathering information, following up with internal constituents as well as with search firms and candidates directly, offering assistance, and prompting decision-making conversations.

Responsible for seeing background checks, reference checks and other due diligence through to completion.

Maintain accurate and complete candidate files following all departmental protocols using recruiting database (viRecruit) and firm document management system.

Provide regular updates and information to Legal Recruiting Manager, Chief Legal Recruiting and Integration Officer, and members of the firm involved in the recruiting process.

Draft candidate correspondence, response letters, engagement letters, welcome notices, firm announcements, fee agreements and other communications.

Mentor and train Legal Recruiting Coordinators in accordance with our strategic goals.

Serve as “face of the firm” in representing it through consistently positive, professional interactions with both internal and external clients including staff, attorneys of the firm, firm leadership, candidates, search firms, professional organizations and other entities.

Work collaboratively with Legal Recruiting Department staff to support other functional areas, special projects and general department administration.

Monitor legal news sources to keep abreast of trends in the market and update others as needed.

Engage in local and national legal recruiting organizations to support the enhancement of our profession and to represent Mintz Levin positively in the legal community.

Assume additional responsibilities as requested.


Bachelor’s degree or a combination of some college coursework and relevant work experience required.

3+ years’ legal recruiting experience required; lateral associate recruiting experience preferred.

Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Strong organizational and administrative skills.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to execute through to completion.

Creative problem solving skills, reasoning ability and logical thought process.
