Responsible for managing all aspects of lateral associate recruitment for the New York office and coordinating efforts with other locations as required. Reports to the Director of Lateral Recruitment, works closely with department/practice group heads, sponsor partners and practice group directors/managers, is supported by the Attorney Recruitment Assistant. Routinely interact with all legal and administrative staff in all offices.


  • Work with department/practice group heads to determine lateral associate hiring needs.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with relevant search firms.
  • Collaborate with sponsoring partners to manage and support associate candidates through the recruitment process. Maintaining a constant dialogue and being the face of the Firm.
  • Screen and review candidate submissions understanding Firm standards, along with department/practice group needs. Distribute appropriate resumes to department/practice group heads for consideration.
  • Maintain candidate files; ensuring best practices with candidate tracking for accuracy
  • Coordinate interview schedules and track candidate evaluations
  • Greet and escort candidates to interviews and debrief candidates following interviews
  • Prepare offer letters and coordinate follow-up efforts
  • Manage due diligence process, including background, conflicts and reference checks
  • Disseminates information regarding new hires to appropriate firm personnel; serve as a liaison across Recruitment, Attorney Resources and Development teams for end-to-end client satisfaction in the recruitment process
  • Maintain and track lateral attorney referrals; process referral bonus payments
  • Manage the Firm’s participation in the OnRamp Fellowship Program
  • Handle all aspects of temporary attorney searches
  • Maintain and update statistical data
  • Proactively maintain up-to-date knowledge of market trends and industry insight
  • Assist the Director of Lateral Recruitment on various aspects of lateral partner hiring


Excellent interpersonal, organizational, writing and oral communication skills; high-energy level; ability to work with attorneys and staff of all levels and personalities; team player; reliable. Must be highly motivated, creative and results-oriented; ability to work with minimum supervision. Ability to act in a fair, equitable and professional manner at all times. Ability to act effectively and appropriately to deliver tough messages when necessary. Ability to assess a situation, use sound judgment in resolving problems and determine appropriate actions to be taken. The Manager of Lateral Recruitment has access to sensitive and confidential information and the position requires a high level of confidentiality and discretion. Proficiency with Word, Excel, and HRIS systems. All positions require punctuality and regular attendance.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Minimum of five years of relevant legal recruitment experience.
