The Legal Talent Manager will be responsible for working directly with lawyers and staff across the Firm in the context of overseeing the associate lifecycle at Cravath, which includes legal staff matters related to orientation, onboarding, associate compensation and Firm policies. This candidate will engage directly with associates, and collaborate with the Managing Partners and Diversity & Inclusion team.  The Legal Talent Manager will also work closely with other members of the Department, including the Legal Recruiting and Professional Development teams on various associate initiatives. The role requires sound judgment, the ability to multitask and work well under pressure, while being thoughtful and collaborative about problem solving while managing competing deadlines.


·         Participates in bi-weekly meetings between the Managing Partners and Legal Personnel team to discuss associate matters, associate engagement and policy enhancements;

·         Works closely with Directors and Associate Director of Legal Personnel on various initiatives and programs addressing associate feedback, partner and associate engagement, work life balance and associate retention;

·         Collaborates with the Human Resources department as it relates to new onboarding processes, policy changes or implementation of any new practices for managing personnel, as appropriate;

·         Manages the Legal Personnel Assistants, including work allocation of tasks and meeting weekly to review task lists and prioritizing deadlines;

·         Conducts exit interviews with associates departing the Firm and takes ownership of compiling the themes of feedback and initiatives;

·         Consults with the Office of the General Counsel regarding employee relations, various associate matters and policies;

·         Manages the onboarding process for new legal staff hires, including overseeing the onboarding portal;

·         Leads orientation sessions for new hires with Legal Personnel team members;

·         Oversees completion of Firm surveys including AmLaw, Chambers and Vault with the support of Legal Personnel team members;

·         Oversees all salary and employment verifications;

·         Shares responsibility of approving associate expenses;

·         Alongside the Financial Planning & Analysis group, manages all aspects of the legal staff year-end compensation process, including special bonuses, as applicable, and oversees the weekly updates of the salary database; and

·         Performs other duties, as assigned.


·         Bachelor’s degree required;

·         5-7 years of Legal Personnel experience or applicable experience in a service industry firm. At least 2 years in a supervisory capacity preferred;

·         Must have the ability to work and interact with attorneys at all levels and the ability to gain strong knowledge of the Firm, its culture, practices and policies;

·         Excellent organization and communication skills, in addition to superior judgment;

·         Technical skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and human resources databases (including PeopleSoft);

·         Ability to work well under pressure and coordinate several activities at one time;

·         Capable of solving problems and meeting deadlines;

·         Ability to deal discreetly with confidential information; and

·         Ability to work additional hours, as needed.
