About the Panelists:
Kelly N. Burrello is a Senior Consultant & Director of Research for the Diversity Training Group, a Washington DC metropolitan-based consulting firm specializing in the design and implementation of comprehensive diversity programs for organizations. She has provided consulting services, spoken on panels and published articles for many top law firms on best practices for establishing and maintaining effective diversity programs. Kelly has a B.A. in Human Relations and a MS in Conflict Analysis and Resolution.
David Cabrales is a Partner and Chairs the Diversity Committee for the Texas law firm of Locke Liddell & Sapp, LLP. David’s clients count on him to resolve insurance, securities, and other business disputes. He has earned the trust of the largest U.S. market-maker of NASDAQ stocks, top U.S. insurance and financial services organizations, and the world’s leading franchisor in its industry. David is on the Steering Committee for the State Bar of Texas Minority Counsel Program and currently serves on the firm’s Practice Development Committee. He holds a B.S. in International Trade from Texas Tech University and a J.D. (cum laude) from Southern Methodist University School of Law, where he attended as a Hatton W. Sumners Scholar.
Russell Harris is the Diversity Initiatives Manager of the law firm Mayer, Brown, Rowe & Maw LLP where he has held several administrative positions for the past 14 years. When Mayer, Brown created the national position of Diversity Initiatives Manager, Russell eagerly accepted and has been in this role for 2 ½ years. Russell is a member of the Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals. He earned a B.A. degree in English from Rollins College and his J.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Like his firm, Russell is dedicated to the proposition of enhancing diversity in the legal profession; first and foremost with his own firm.
Tommy Shi is the Corporate Development and Transformation Officer for Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC at the company’s Montvale, New Jersey headquarters. In this capacity, Shi is responsible for providing the strategic direction, development and implementation of the company-wide cultural transformation and diversity strategy. Shi has been with the MBUSA team for the past thirteen years, serving most recently as a counsel in the legal department. Active in diversity activities and organizations, Shi was recognized in 2005 by the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association’s Law Foundation and received a 2002 National Asian American Corporate Achievement Award from the Organization of Chinese Americans. Shi received his J.D. from Boston College Law School in and holds a B.A. degree in behavioral biology from the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.
