» Stranger in a Strange Land: Cross-Cultural Issues in the Courts
Hosted by: New York City Bar
Date: Monday, June 8
Time: 6:30-8:00 p.m.
The Council on International Affairs of the New York City Bar is hosting a program to be presented in the Great Hall at the City Bar (42 West 44th Street/btw/ 5th and 6th Avenues) on Monday, June 8 at 6:30 p.m. that may be of considerable interest to your Summer Associates. This free program concerns the role cultural norms do and should play in criminal prosecutions and civil litigations. The program applies to virtually every area of the law in which litigation occurs, has a prominent and engaging moderator (Jonathan Turley, a constitutional law professor at George Washington University Law School who serves as a consultant to MSNBC), an extremely knowledgeable panel, and will use an interactive format (handheld devices) that allows the audience to react to the issues presented (e.g., each member of the audience is a judge in the case), all based on real court cases.
See the attachment for more information about the program and how to register.
